2/10/2011 – Day 46
Belgrade
I don’t wish to upset anyone but Belgrade is the dirtiest city we have come across so far. I imagined a city full of grandeur and splendour, what I got was a city with dirty bins overflowing into the street, graffiti everywhere, pavements stained with old chewing gum and a road system that make crossing it a gamble.
The area around the castle is probably the best looked after but it still leaves a lot to be desired. But the main shopping area is covered in graffiti and if you walk 10 paces down any of the side streets you will find full to overflowing bins.
The traffic is a nightmare with cars failing to stop for pedestrians on crossings, the constant noise of horns being used for no reason and cars actually driving on the pavement!
All I can say is if you get the choice don’t bother. There are plenty of other cities worth going to which are cheaper and cleaner.
